Westlake Hills
This modern home in Westlake Hills, Texas incorporates many novel and innovative elements. The house is constructed from special prefabricated panels over a steel superstructure, from Transcon Steel of Georgetown. The panels themselves contain steel studs, with polystyrene insulation between them pressed in under high pressure, leaving no gaps or voids. The polished concrete floor has a terrazzo-like finish created by throwing bits of recycled beer bottles into the top layer of concrete as the slab is being poured. This home also features a super-efficient geothermal climate control system.
